The 2011 Canscoot Show Weekend Ride:
11-14 Nov

This year the "Mad as a March Hare Run" didn't happen due to unforseen circumstances, i.e. everyones houses and places of work were falling over!! However the plan was so good that this years annual Canscoot Show Weekend Ride is going to follow the route that had been planned for March. So we are heading for beautiful Golden Bay.

The Overview

The full run is a four day trip of about 1,200kms leaving on the Friday 11th. Leaving on Friday gives better options for those joining us from further North or wanting to make it a three day ride (slackers).
The route departs Christchurch, goes over the Lewis Pass, through Murchison, turn off at Kohatu Junction and arrive at Motueka. Second day, over the Takaka hill and spend the day and night sightseeing in Golden Bay. Third day (Sunday), back over the Takaka Hill, those who want to can leg it home while those wanting a more leisurely trip home will scoot on for a nights stay at the Hexagon backpackers via Westport. Fourth Day is a scenic journey home over Arthurs Pass.

As usual, book your own accommodation and at this stage there is no back up vehicle organised (volunteers wanted !!) so change your oil and pack some spanners!

The Plan

Day One - Friday, 11th Nov

423km; Depart 9:00am from Coffee Culture, Cnr Victoria & High Streets, Rangiora.
Meet at Coffee Culture, Cnr Victoria & High Streets, Rangiora ready for a 9 o'clock departure. We then head through the Lewis Pass, Murchison, turn at Kohatu Junction and go to Motueka for the night. This allows us to catch up with any scoots from the North Island or Blenhiem / Nelson etc.
It is a decent day on the scoot so a prompt departure will be needed.
